This spectacular houseplant, commonly known as the zebra plant, stands out with its large, glossy, extremely dark forest green leaves. What makes it so unique is its network of vibrant cream-white veins running through each leaf, creating a striking striped pattern. With its compact upright habit, it offers a strong and modern visual presence. To top it all off, it produces magnificent inflorescences in the form of bright yellow cones that contrast beautifully with its dark foliage!
- Light: Bright, but strictly indirect or filtered light. Excellent lighting maintains the rigidity of its stems and preserves the brilliance of its zebra patterns. Direct sun would irrevocably burn its leaves.
- Watering: Keep the soil evenly and slightly moist. Water thoroughly as soon as the surface of the soil begins to dry out. This is an expressive plant ("drama queen") that quickly droops its leaves when it lacks water, but proudly perks up shortly after a good drink.
- Humidity: High. Native to tropical forests, it needs good ambient humidity to prevent the tips of its leaves from browning. Using a humidifier or a tray of wet clay pebbles will do it a world of good.
- Safety: Safe and non-toxic for pets (cats and dogs) according to ASPCA standards.
